Best Friends Day, celebrated each year on June 8th, is more than just a fun excuse to text your bestie a heart emoji or share a throwback picture on social media.
I think for womenโs ministries, this sweet and simple holiday is a meaningful way to build deeper relationships among women in your church and invite others into a faith-filled sisterhood.
You’ve gotta agree!
After all, friendships are the heartbeats of womenโs ministry. Hey, it’s one of the reasons we HAVE a women’s ministry! We want women to build relationships for the benefit of the Kingdom, right?
The best women’s ministry events are safe spaces where women can pray, grow, cry, laugh, and find strength together.
In this post, I am going to share womenโs ministry ideas to celebrate Best Friends Day with intentionality and a dash of creativity.
As you read my ideas, I pray the Holy Spirit gives you even more!
Whether you lead a large church or a small group gathering in someoneโs living room, youโll find activities and ideas to promote bonding, invite new women in, and deepen friendships already formedโall while keeping Jesus at the center.
You ready?
Let’s roll!
First, let me show you how I have organized this post on Best Friend’s Day!
This women’s ministry post covers:
Why Celebrate Best Friends Day in Womenโs Ministry?
As I write this, I’m referring to Best Friends Day 2025. I’m going to do my best to keep it pretty generic. ๐
Friendship is one of the most powerful connectors in a womanโs life. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us:
โTwo are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.โ
When we provide opportunities for women to spend time together, weโre not just helping them make memoriesโweโre building a strong community that reflects the unity and love of Christ.
Best Friends Day can become an annual tradition in your womenโs ministry!
I tried to do that with women’s tea events, but it ceased after I stepped down from the role. ๐ However, they’ve done so many more amazing things!
Anyway, making it a tradition not only celebrates current friendships but also becomes a warm, low-pressure outreach event where women feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
What do you think? Hit reply and tell me! Really. I’ll answer ya, if I can!

1. Host a โBring Your Bestieโ Brunch
You’re going to love this idea as much as I do!
What if you kick off your women’s ministry Best Friends Day celebration with a delicious brunch?
You can make it rich with activities that encourage meaningful conversation and fun fellowship!.
Invite women to bring a best friend (whether sheโs part of the church or not) and treat them to a cozy, inviting morning with good food, laughter, and faith-centered connection.
Don’t forget some awesome music! Make it a mix of relaxing music and energizing worship!

Set the mood with:
- A “Best Friends Wall” where each guest pins a picture or note about her friend (like favorite memories that can be shared throughout the event!)
- Table conversation cards with questions like, โWhat makes your friendship special?โ or โWhat do you admire most about your friend?โ
- A short devotional on biblical friendship (John 15:12-13 is a great anchor verse)
Tip: Include a prayer moment where women can pray for their friendโs needs or celebrate how God has used friendship to grow them.
How about this idea?
Another great Best Friends Day womenโs ministry idea is to host a special evening where women share stories of Godly friendship.
Ask two or three women to prepare short testimonies about how a friendship helped them through a hard time, led them to Christ, or strengthened their faith.
This event:
- Encourages vulnerability and authenticity
- Sparks gratitude for the people God puts in our lives
- Inspires women to be that kind of friend for someone else
Another variation of this activity could be a friendship panel. Let me know in the comments if you would like ideas for this! Maybe I can do a Best Friend Day video for you!
Include worship, reflection, and maybe even a symbolic gift exchange (like bracelets or bookmarks) that represents their friendship.
3. DIY Friendship Blessing Jars
For a hands-on activity, set up a station where women can create โBlessing Jarsโ for their friends. These are simple glass jars filled with handwritten notes of encouragement, scripture, affirmations, or memories.
Supplies:
- Mason jars or clear plastic containers
- Pre-cut decorative paper strips
- Pens, ribbon, stickers
- Labels with verses like Proverbs 17:17 (โA friend loves at all timesโ)
Encourage women to take the jars home and gift them to a friend, or better yetโswap them at the end of the event.

4. Friendship Photo Booth + Social Media Challenge
Set up a cute photo booth with props and a โBest Friends Dayโ banner.
Encourage attendees to take pictures with their friends and post them on social media using a fun hashtag like #WomensMinBesties or #BestFriendsDayChurch.
Why it works:
- It creates buzz around your event
- It helps your womenโs ministry gain exposure
- It reminds women to cherish and celebrate their friendships
Include a printable card or frame for their picture that includes a friendship Bible verse or quote.

5. Fun & Faith-Filled Best Friends Games
Sometimes, laughter is the best way to bond. Plan a few light-hearted activities like:
- Best Friend Trivia: Each woman fills out a quiz about her friend; the team with the most accurate answers wins a prize.
- Friendship Bingo: Create bingo cards with traits or shared experiences like โWeโve gone on vacation together,โ โShe prays for me,โ or โWe met at church.โ
- Friendship Charades: Act out memories or inside jokes (keep it appropriate and faith-focused!)
Prizes could be journals, candles, or devotionals for two.
6. A โFriendship Walkโ + Prayer Stations
If the weather allows, organize a community walk where women walk in pairs and visit 4-5 themed prayer stations. Each station can focus on an aspect of friendship:
- Thankfulness
- Forgiveness
- Support
- Growth in Christ
- Future hopes
This allows time for deeper connection and spiritual encouragement in a relaxed outdoor setting.
7. Invite a Friend to Church Challenge
Turn Best Friends Day into a month-long outreach. Encourage each woman to invite one friend to church or a womenโs ministry event.
Provide them with invitation cards or personalized notes with a warm message and details.
At the end of the month, host a โFriendship Celebration Sundayโ with a special breakfast or recognition moment for women who brought guests.
You could also have a โNew Best Friendsโ event!
This could be for women who havenโt known each other for long but are excited about their new friendships!
8. Group Devotional + Journaling Session
Here I go again.
You know I’ve written a book on journaling, so I have to include a women’s ministry journaling session. ๐ It’s available on Amazon in paperback, or you can get an e-book version here!

Ok. Enough of my shameless plugging. Please understand I have to. That’s how I fund this website and all my websites.
Anyway…you can choose a short devotional on friendship and gather women to read it aloud in small groups. Follow with journal prompts like:
- How has God used friendship to shape your faith?
- What qualities make a godly friend?
- Who is God calling me to reach out to?
This makes room for reflection and sharing and helps women grow in emotional and spiritual self-awareness.
Promote Sisterhood, Not Just Socializing
While itโs great to laugh, eat, and create memories, make sure your Best Friends Day events point back to Christ.
Share scriptures, give space for prayer, and remind women that Jesus is the friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).
Encourage them to cultivate deeper relationships that reflect His love.
Donโt Forget: Invite Her Back!
Every woman who attends your Best Friends Day eventโwhether a regular or a first-time guestโshould feel welcomed, seen, and invited back.
Send follow-up emails!
Send them texts!
Maybe even cards thanking them for coming and offering info on your next event, Bible study, or group.

Final Thoughts: Friendships Are Ministry
In womenโs ministry, friendships aren’t fluffโtheyโre foundational.
Shucks, they are foundational in the Body of Christ!
Best Friends Day is your valuable opportunity to celebrate what God is already doing and open the door for new, life-giving connections.
Maybe as a result of what you do, people can get new best friends! ๐
Whether through a brunch, testimony night, or a prayer walk, remember: when women feel loved and connected, theyโre more likely to grow spiritually and stay connected to the church.
So plan something meaningful, invite the women in your church to bring their besties, and use this special day to build the kind of sisterhood that changes lives.
