I love women’s ministry-themed parties – like the Spring and Fall ones. Planning a memorable and enjoyable Christmas party for ladies ministry can be a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season together. With the right combination of activities and thoughtful details, you can create a festive atmosphere that reflects the spirit of Christmas. These ladies ministry Christmas party ideas are interchangeable. You can combine them, stagger them, or do whatever the Lord leads you to do!
Planning a Christmas party for your ladies’ ministry is a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season and build a sense of community among the women in your church or organization. Oh yeah. I am intentionally leaving off the apostrophe from the word “ladies’.” 🙂
Here are some Christmas party ideas tailored for a ladies’ ministry:
Winter Wonderland Women’s Ministry Theme:
Transform your event space into a winter wonderland with white and silver decorations, snowflake-themed centerpieces, and twinkling fairy lights. Consider hosting the party in a venue with a fireplace to create a cozy atmosphere.
To create a memorable event, choose a really good, pretty, and light venue, preferably one with a cozy fireplace or large windows to showcase the wintry outdoors.
Decorate the space with a white and silver color scheme, incorporating snowflakes, twinkling lights, and faux snow to set the scene.
Offer guests warm beverages like hot cocoa, cinnamon tea, and spiced cider, accompanied by an array of holiday-themed treats. Plan engaging activities, such as DIY ornament making or a Christmas carol sing-along, to keep everyone entertained.
Finally, don’t forget to encourage the ladies to dress in their most festive winter attire, complete with cozy scarves and mittens. Or you can go elegant and ask them to wear either silver or white. You really can rock this decor for one of my favorite ladies’ ministry Christmas party ideas!
Tip: Check out Pinterest and search for “winter weddings,” “winter showers,” and other events.
Christmas Carol Sing-Along
Who doesn’t love a good sing-along? Ask some ladies with nice voices to lead the group in some sing-alongs. You can combine this activity with the cookie decorating below!
Gather songbooks or print out lyric sheets to distribute among the attendees. Encourage everyone to join in, creating a joyous and harmonious atmosphere as you celebrate the true meaning of Christmas through music.
Or you can arrange for a live musical performance by a local Christian group or hire a local choir to lead a Christmas carol sing-along. Sometimes, universities have choirs who will come to events for free or for a nominal donation.
Keep the fun going, Girl! You can also incorporate games or trivia related to Christmas carols for added fun.
Set the mood with a sing-along session of favorite Christmas carols playing in the background as the women enter.

DIY Ornament Making:
Set up crafting stations where attendees can create their own Christmas ornaments. Provide various materials like clear glass ornaments, paint, glitter, and craft supplies. Or you can have the ladies bring them! Either way, you want LOTS of stuff because this allows for creative expression and a keepsake to take home.
Set up a designated crafting area with a variety of supplies, such as clear glass ornaments, paints, glitter, ribbons, and craft glue. Or, again, you can have the ladies bring their own glass ornaments, and you supply the materials.
I think it is helpful (for non-creatives) like me to have some ideas to work from. So, provide examples and inspiration for ornament ideas.
Ideas like this ladies ministry Christmas party ideas make me nervous because I am not – as I said – a creative person. So, make sure you make an announcement like “Now, ladies, don’t take this too seriously. We’re not here for perfection – just fun and fellowship!”
As guests arrive, go ahead and set the mood by offering them warm drinks like hot cocoa or mulled wine, along with a spread of holiday snacks and treats.
Create a festive atmosphere by playing Christmas music and decorating the space with twinkling lights and holiday-themed decorations.
During the ladies ministry Christmas party, cheer your guests on as they craft their ornaments, exchange them, and share stories or memories associated with their creations.
You could also have the ladies make more than one and have prompts like:
- “make an ornament that reminds you of your childhood.”
- “make an ornament that represents your teen years.”
- “make an ornament that conveys how you feel about Jesus.”
- “Make an ornament you will hang this year on your tree.”
At the end of the event, everyone leaves with a unique ornament and cherished memories of a delightful Christmas ornament party.
Cookie Decorating Contest:
Let’s make things a little interesting with a lil’ competition. 🙂
Organize a cookie decorating contest where participants can decorate and then enjoy their sweet creations. Provide a variety of cookies, icing, sprinkles, and toppings for ladies to use.
Offer prizes (Dollar Tree is fine) for the most creative designs. The ladies can vote for themselves or have some deacons or husbands vote. This could get tricky but fun!
Or you can invite each lady to bring a batch of their favorite homemade cookies or holiday treats. Set up a beautiful cookie display and provide festive packaging so participants can exchange and take home a variety of delectable goodies.

Christmas Devotion and Prayer:
Start the event with a short Christmas devotion or prayer session to reflect on the holiday season’s true meaning and connect spiritually.
Women’s Ministry Secret Santa or Gift Exchange:
I know some women’s groups don’t like the idea of Santa. So you can name it “secret sister gift exchange” or something similar.
Arrange a Secret Santa gift exchange where each attendee draws a name and buys a small gift for that person. Set a budget to ensure affordability and encourage attendees to choose meaningful or homemade gifts.
Here’s a super easy step-by-step guide to help you plan and execute a successful Secret Santa:
- Assign Secret Santas:
Use a random drawing method to pair participants as Secret Santas. You can use names in a hat, online Secret Santa generators, or a specialized Secret Santa app to make assignments. YOu can use the site DrawNames.com, too. Make sure to keep the assignments secret until the day of the exchange.
- Set a Spending Limit:
To ensure that gifts are relatively equal in value, set a spending limit that everyone can comfortably afford. Communicate this limit to all participants. I usually say no more than $25-30 dollars. - Exchange Gift Preferences:
Ask participants to share a few gift preferences, ideas, spiritual growth, and beauty, such as favorite colors, hobbies, or interests. This helps Secret Santas choose thoughtful gifts. - Establish a Theme (Optional):
Consider having a theme for the gifts, such as handmade, 1970s, self-care, prayer, eco-friendly, or gifts related to a specific holiday tradition. A theme can add an extra layer of creativity to the exchange. - Plan the Gift Exchange Event:
Determine the structure of the gift exchange event. - Traditional Exchange:
Participants draw names and exchange gifts in person. - Provide Wrapping Supplies:
Encourage participants to wrap their gifts creatively. You can also provide wrapping supplies like wrapping paper, ribbons, and gift tags. Dollar Tree is the place to go for Christmas decor or the day after Christmas, you can stock up for the next year’s event! - Plan Incredibly FUN Activities:
Include activities like Christmas games, Christmas music, praise dancers, holiday-themed snacks, or a craft project to make the event more enjoyable and interactive. - Express Gratitude:
Remind the ladies to include a note or card expressing their gratitude and holiday wishes. Ask them to commit to praying for their secret sisters daily until the gift is exchanged. - Set a deadline for the very last gift to be given.
If you set a deadline, all the procrastinator can get in that one good, final gift before the reveal. - Yaaay! Select a Date for the BIG Reveal:
Once the Secret Santa gifts are exchanged, set a date for the gift reveal if it’s not part of the initial event. This is when participants can find out who their Secret Santa is!
Christmas Movie Night:
Host a Christmas movie night featuring classic holiday films. Create a cozy viewing area with blankets and pillows. Serve popcorn, hot cocoa, and other movie snacks.
Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest:
I’m tired of this one, but I still have fun each time I participate in one! So, go ahead and invite the women to wear their tackiest or most creative Christmas sweaters and hold a contest with prizes for the best and worst sweaters. Be sure to hold a vote or have a panel of judges to determine the winner, who could receive a small prize or recognition.

Holiday Brunch or Tea Party:
Organize a festive brunch or tea party with a menu featuring holiday-themed treats, such as gingerbread scones, cranberry muffins, and seasonal teas or beverages.
Charity and Giving:
What a great time of year to be a blessing! Embrace the Jesus spirit of giving by organizing a charity drive or volunteer activity. Collect donations for a local charity or participate in a community service project together.
Ladies ministry Christmas party ideas are so fun, right?
Are they sparking your creativity? I hope so! Let’s keep going!
White Elephant Gift Exchange:
Now you’re talking! I LOVE white elephant gift exchanges!
Host a White Elephant gift exchange with a holiday twist. Encourage attendees to bring quirky or funny Christmas-themed gifts for the exchange.
Storytelling and Sharing:
Remember, I said you can stagger these ideas? This one will fit with just about any of the others. Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for attendees to share their favorite Christmas memories, traditions, or inspirational stories about the holiday season. Make sure you share stories about women in the church who have passed on. Keep their memories alive. How about writing several story prompts on paper and asking the women to draw and share?
DIY Christmas Crafts:
I love the idea of creating gift cards. But you can have lots of options here! Organize a craft station where ladies can create their own Christmas ornaments, wreaths, or other festive decorations. Provide a variety of craft supplies, such as ribbons, beads, and glitter, to spark creativity and allow everyone to personalize their creations.
Photo Booth Fun:
Another great “mix and match” option! Create a photo booth area with festive props, such as Santa hats, reindeer antlers, or Christmas-themed signs. Provide a camera or encourage attendees to use their smartphones to capture fun and memorable moments throughout the party. These photos can serve as sweet keepsakes and reminders of the joy shared during the event.
Christmas “Name that Tune:
You could do a Christmas version of “Name that Tune.” Divide the women into teams, and someone plays a few bars of a song, and the first team that names the song wins! Use the video below!
OF COURSE… You can just have a fun Christmas potluck! Why not?
Throw in some fun games and a few of the items above, and you’ve got a party!
Merry Christmas! (okay, I know it’s September as I write this, but I can’t wait!)
