Women’s ministry events provide the perfect opportunity to teach women how to truly trust God. In a world full of uncertainties and challenges, women often carry the weight of their families, careers, and personal struggles on their shoulders. As busy as women tend to be, I like the idea of short programs for Christian women’s groups.
For the purposes of this women’s ministry blog post, the word “program” refers to activities that include several components. For instance, an introspective activity where women check their own standing on a topic.
Secondly, a group activity they can do together or in small groups, and Finally, a takeaway activity encouraging women to journal about the topic.
This post is not much of a “read me” post. We are giving you an activity template.
Before I do, let me show you how this post is organized.
Womenโs Ministry Ideas
Short programs for Christian women’s groups
The template or idea in this post can be used for a variety ot women’s ministry short program themes. In case you needs some ideas, the themes below will spark your creativity.
For maximum impact, build three elements into your plans for short programs for Christian women’s groups. First, provide activities women can do alone to gauge their thoughts, knowledge, and interest.
Secondly, have large and small group activities they can do. Cooperative learning yields amazing results! The women will be able to learn from one another and build relationships.
Finally, give them some task, or for lack of a better term, homework, to take the learning experience with them as they leave the women’s ministry events.
Now, for some ideas:
- 30-Day Scripture Challenge: Encourage women to read and reflect on a specific scripture each day for 30 days, with weekly check-ins to share insights and experiences. The check-ins could be on Zoom, or you could use a social media group, like Facebook.
- Prayer Journaling Workshop: Host a one-time or short-series workshop where women learn how to keep a prayer journal, including prompts (like below), creative ideas, and ways to track answered prayers.
- Faith & Fitness: A four-week program combining physical exercise with spiritual growth. Each session includes a devotional or scripture meditation followed by a group workout.
- Book Club for Busy Women: Choose a short Christian book or a few key chapters from a longer book to discuss over three or four sessions, allowing for deep but manageable engagement.
- Mini Bible Study Series: A 3-4 week study focusing on a single book of the Bible, character, or theme (e.g., the Proverbs 31 woman, the Fruit of the Spirit, or the Book of Ruth).
- Creative Prayer Techniques: A short series exploring different prayer methods, such as praying through art, music, or nature walks, to help women deepen their prayer life.
- Mentorship Moments: A short-term mentorship program where older women (or women seasoned in the faith) mentor younger women on specific topics, such as navigating careers, motherhood, or spiritual growth, with bi-weekly meet-ups.
- Scripture Memorization Challenge: Over the course of four weeks, women work together to memorize and meditate on key Bible verses, sharing their progress and encouragement with one another.
- Faith in the Workplace: A three-session series on how to live out Christian faith in professional settings, including discussions on integrity, leadership, and balancing work and faith.
- Worship Nights: Organize a monthly worship night with a mix of contemporary and traditional worship songs, followed by a short devotional and prayer time.
Now, let’s look at an example as you brainstorm short programs for Christian women’s groups.

Women’s Ministry Journal Prompts
